The Institute for Data Intensive Engineering and Science (IDIES) is pleased to announce its 2018 IDIES Seed Funding Program (SFP) offering. The goal of this initiative is to provide seed funding for data-intensive computing projects that (a) will involve areas relevant to IDIES and JHU institutional research priorities; (b) are multidisciplinary; and (c) build ideas and teams with good prospects for successful proposals to attract external research support by leveraging IDIES intellectual and physical infrastructure.
Understanding the impact on “Big Data” innovation that results in providing support for pilot or seed projects, our partnering divisions have in the past supported 4 seed funding awards. Recognizing the overwhelming interest from our membership within the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, the JH SOM Deans of Research have generously agreed to provide additional funding for two more projects that will make it possible for IDIES to issue a total of 6 seed awards in 2018. We would like to thank all of our sponsors for their support of this worthwhile program.
