For the ninth year, the Institute of Data Intensive Engineering and Science (IDIES) will offer its Seed Funding Initiative. IDIES Seed research funding offers faculty and research teams a one-year, $25,000 pilot award for data-intensive computing projects in order to promote the growth of data-intensive, multidisciplinary, multi-investigator sponsored projects at Johns Hopkins University.

For the third year, IDIES will offer a research funding opportunity to undergraduate students for a Summer Fellowship designed to support a full-time research project for 10 weeks, from July through August. Students will be required to partner with an IDIES Faculty member as their mentor for the project. Each award made will include $6,000 in funding—$5,000 for the student stipend and $1,000 for the faculty mentor (this can be used as salary support or added to a research discretionary account).
