Sarah Wheelan Wins Funding For Cancer Research

IDIES affiliate Sarah Wheelan and co-principal investigator Carol Greider received $100,000 from the Allegheny Health Network Cancer Institute for their project “Distinct mechanism of telomere maintenance: toward individualized treatment.”

Dr. Wheelan is an associate professor at the Oncology Center-Cancer Biology in the School of Medicine at The Johns Hopkins University. She has received two grants with IDIES, “Alignment to The Cancer Genome Atlas project raw sequencing reads” in 2014 with colleague Srinivasan Yegnasubramanian, and “Fusion Transcripts Bridge Chromatic Loops to Create Novel Proteins” in 2016 with IDIES affiliate Michael Schatz.
